Is Hoekstra shielding Hastert in the Duke Intel
Committee scandal?
By Kotos for Congress staff:
This one makes the Foley scandal seem trivial by
comparison. The release of an independent report on
Duke Cunningham's abuse of his position on the
Intelligence Committee is being held up by the
Chairman, Pete Hoekstra, reportedly because it could
be embarrassing to other committee members and the
leadership. Is it possible that the Speaker, the
Chairman, and/or others close to them are hiding
something?
Dennis Hastert is not only Speaker, but also was a
member of the Intelligence Committee along with Duke
Cunningham and Peter Hoekstra. Is it possible that
Hastert was totally in the dark regarding Duke
Cunningham's secret dealings within the Intelligence
Committee? Is it possible Hastert was both ignorant
and uninvolved?
Is it possible that Hastert was likewise oblivious to
the poker parties and other goings-on at the Watergate
and elsewhere at which secret deals were reportedly
made involving intelligence contracts?
These events were on-going for several years. Could
Hoekstra likewise have been in the dark all this time,
or, on the other hand, does this help explain why
Hoekstra was awarded the committee chairmanship when
Goss left for the CIA post? Is it possible that
Hoekstra was picked because he could be trusted to
keep the secrets -- because he was in up to his
eyeballs?
The issue here is not sexual flirtation with an
underage page; it is a blatant disregard for our
national security in the pursuit of partisan power and
financial gain.
It is time to expose these lying thugs for the hypocrites they are. If Hastert's coverup of the Foley scandal warrants consideration as grounds for his dismissal from the Speakership, then Hoekstra's coverup of his and Hastert's seeming complicity in possible illegal secret dealings within the Intelligence Committee are certainly grounds for much more severe action.
